Red Light Therapy Face Masks

Red light therapy face masks are FDA-cleared at-home devices that emit specific wavelengths of low-level light to trigger collagen production, calm inflammation, and clear acne — without needles, downtime, or clinic appointments. The Cloakla range delivers medical-grade irradiance (60+ mW/cm²) across 7 clinically studied wavelengths, the same dose dermatologists charge $150–$300 per session for.

Which Cloakla red light therapy face mask is right for you?

Cloakla makes two FDA-cleared LED face masks — both wireless, both painless, both engineered for clinical-grade results at home. Pick by concern, not by feature list.

What red light therapy actually does to your skin

Different LED wavelengths penetrate the skin at different depths and trigger different cellular responses. Cloakla's masks cover the full clinically validated spectrum:

630 / 660 nm

Red light: collagen + fine lines

Penetrates the dermis to activate fibroblasts, which produce new collagen and elastin. Clinically shown to reduce fine lines and improve skin firmness within 4–8 weeks of consistent use.

830 / 850 nm

Near-infrared: deep tissue healing

Penetrates deepest (up to 5 mm). Calms inflammation, supports post-procedure recovery, and reaches lax tissue for tightening effects.

415 nm

Blue: acne + breakouts

Destroys Propionibacterium acnes (the bacteria responsible for most adult acne). Clinically used for mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne.

590 nm

Amber: pigmentation + tone

Fades hyperpigmentation, post-acne marks, and uneven tone. Especially useful for melasma when paired with red light.

520 nm

Green: redness + capillaries

Calms persistent redness, broken capillaries, and rosacea-prone skin. Often used after laser treatments to speed calming.

Red light face mask vs salon LED treatment

An in-clinic LED facial costs $150–$300 per session and delivers the same wavelengths as a medical-grade home device. The math:

Salon LED facial Cloakla at home
Cost per session $150–$300 $0 after purchase
Year-one cost (1 session/week) ~$10,000 $139–$200 once
Wavelengths 1–3 (depends on device) 4 (C16) or 7 (K11)
Booking + travel Required None
Privacy Treatment room Your sofa
Session length 20–30 min + commute 10 min auto-timer

The Cloakla pays for itself in roughly one in-clinic visit, then keeps glowing for years.

How often should you use a red light therapy face mask?

The clinical sweet spot is 4–5 sessions of 10 minutes per week. You can wear it daily — LED is non-thermal, non-UV, and non-cumulative, so there is no downside, just diminishing returns past once a day.

Expect to see results in this order:

  1. Days 1–7: Softer texture, slight glow immediately after each session.
  2. Weeks 2–4: Brighter, more even complexion. Active breakouts calm down.
  3. Weeks 4–8: Visible fine line reduction, firmness, plumping.
  4. Weeks 8+: Sustained collagen turnover. Compound effect.

Are Cloakla red light face masks safe?

Yes. Cloakla masks are FDA-cleared Class II medical devices. LED light therapy is non-thermal (no heat damage), non-UV (no skin cancer risk), and clinically safe for sensitive skin, rosacea, melasma, and post-procedure recovery.

See our clinical results & FDA clearance page for the device clearance documentation and wavelength research.

Frequently asked questions

When will I see results?

Most users notice softer texture and a brighter complexion in 1–2 weeks. Visible fine-line reduction lands at the 4–6 week mark with 4–5 sessions per week.

Red light mask before or after skincare?

Before. Apply LED to clean, bare skin so wavelengths absorb directly. Layer serums, moisturizer, and SPF after the session.

Can I use it with retinoids or acids?

Apply retinoids and chemical acids after the session, not before. They can sensitize skin to light if applied first. If you're on Accutane, check with your dermatologist.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

LED is non-UV and non-thermal — most dermatologists consider it safe during pregnancy. We still recommend confirming with your OB/GYN before starting any new device.

Can I use it on the neck?

Only the K11 Face + Neck ships with a dedicated neck enhancer panel. The C16 is face-only.

How is it different from a red light panel?

Masks deliver concentrated, even-coverage light to the face at the exact distance dermatologists recommend (contact-level). Panels require holding your face inches away for 10+ minutes and the dose drops sharply with distance.
